LAHORE - PPPs central Secretary General Jehangir Badr has said that there is no danger to democracy and political actors should wait for their turn. He said PPP should be held accountable after completion of its tenure. Talking to a delegation of Peoples Labour Bureau (PLB) that called on him at his residence on Monday to congratulate him on his acquittal from NAB cases, the PPP leader said martial law would not be imposed just because some people did not like democracy. President PLB Ehtashamul Haq and Secretary Information Saleem Mughal led the delegation, and termed his exoneration a victory of truth and a testimony to the fact that cases instituted against PPP leaders in the past were false and politically motivated. Rejecting rumours of change, Badr said government would complete its constitutional tenure, and those aspiring for power should wait till next elections. He said it was strange to see that those opposing democratic governments were comfortable with dictators who come for a decade to rule the country, but they dont tolerate elected people even for few years. They will have to learn to tolerate the elected representatives as well, he observed, adding that politicians gave the country a constitution and made it a nuclear power unlike the dictators who created multiple problems for the countrymen. Badr said PPP government has been elected for five years and its performance should be judged after completion of its term.
