LAHORE - Expressing concerns over the proposed dissolution of Pakistan Electricity Power Company (PEPCO) on the direction of World Bank, speakers at a rally have demanded President and Prime Minister to intervene and disallow splitting the Company and increase in electricity tariff. Wapda Hydroelectric Central Labour Union took out the rally from Bakhtiar Hall on Monday. The participants were carrying placards and banners inscribed with writings against the proposed division and in increase in electricity tariff. Highly charged workers also chanted slogans against the government. Secretary General of the Labour Union Khurshid Ahmad said that workers would never accept the proposed break-up of PEPCO, as it would affect the performance of field staff besides creating differences among all provinces on power generation and distribution issues.
