Faisalabad mourns bus tragedy

FAISALABAD - The whole industrial city on Tuesday remained in deep mourning and observed complete shutter down in the wake of Mondays Kallar Kahar bus tragedy wherein at least 37 school children, two teachers and the deputy head were killed. Also educational institutions and business centres remained closed in mourning of the accident and everyone burst into tears after hearing the tragedy. The citizens were sad and angry over the deaths of the students of Tamir-I-Milat Grammar School. In addition, the government officials reached the site after a many hours increasing the mourners miseries. The members of civil society have demanded that the Punjab chief minister should start investigations into the accident and take action against the transport company owners for their dereliction. They could have avoided by not being so greedy, they added. All the deceased were laid to rest their funeral prayers. Talking to media persons Faisalabad DCO Naseem Saddiq said that a strict action would be taken against the responsible within two days. He said that a probe into the accident was underway and all departments concerned including transporters were being investigated. He further said that 16 injured students had been handed over to the heirs after first aid and four students are under treatment in Rawalpindi and sixteen were admitted to Rawalpindi Allied Hospital. The accident took place when the break of the bus failed and it plunged into a ravine when they were on their way to home after a trip to Kalar Kahar.
