ISLAMABAD – Pakistan highly values its relations with Turkey and all Pakistanis have great love for Turkish brethren as we share commonalities in history, religion and culture as well as commonalities of views on regional and international issues.

Senator Haji Adeel, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, expressed these views in a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Mustafa Babur Hizlan who called him in his office here on Thursday.

Turkish Ambassador said that increasing parliamentary contacts were crucial for further cementing relations between the two countries. He delivered a letter to chairman Senate panel from Chairman Foreign Affairs Committee of Grand National Assembly of Turkey in this regard. The Turkish counterpart of Foreign Affairs Committee congratulated Senator Haji Adeel on his election as the Chairman of Foreign Affairs, Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Senate Standing Committee.

The letter further conveyed, “I have no doubt that during your term existing friendly relations and close contacts between our committees will be continued with increased strength contributing to the excellent ties of friendship and cooperation between our countries. It will be a great pleasure for me to work closely with you for our common objectives. With these thoughts in mind, it will be a great pleasure for me to invite you and your delegation from your committee to Turkey at your earliest convenience to talk on bilateral as well as international issues of common concern.”  

Senator Haji Adeel thanked for extending invitation to visit Turkey by his Turkish counterpart and expressed similar sentiments regarding more frequent exchanges of parliamentarians and enhanced contacts from both sides to gain maximum benefits of their bilateral relations. Both sides also discussed matters of mutual interest and significance.
