LAHORE – Speakers at a seminar have stressed upon the need to develop tolerance in the society.

The seminar ‘Right to Protest and Imperative of National Pride’ was organised by Hameed Nizami Press Institute of Pakistan on Thursday.

On the occasion, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf leader Sardar Assef Ahmed said incidents of violence on Yaum-e-Ishq-e-Rasool were condemnable. He said our beloved Prophet (PBUH) had preached love and peace. He said Muslims all over the world love Prophet (PBUH) who had protested against the sacrilegious movie but peacefully. Assef said we have to change our attitude. He lamented that Pakistani society was become violent gradually. He said we should be responsible.

PML-N leader Tariq Azeem while talking about the role of media said that although electronic media had known its powers but it was not aware about its responsibilities so far. He said media should presented good image of the country. He said protests were staged all over the world on different issues but no one looted the properties.

PML-Q MPA Amna Ulfat said that there was lack of both education and training in the country. She said due to lack of proper training such incidents of violence occurred.

Senior Journalist Farrukh Sohail Goendi, Nawa-i-Waqt senior reporter Syed Shoaib-ud-din and HNPIP director Absar Abdul Ali also spoke on the occasion.
