HAFIZABAD - The powerlooms owners and workers of union have expressed grave concern over the unscheduled and prolonged power outages restarted by the Gepco here in the district. Unscheduled loadshedding has forced the owners to shut their small factories, which has rendered hundreds of workers jobless. Powerlooms Workers Union President Muhammad Zaman Ansari and Owners Association President Muhammad Yousaf Tihami lamented that the Gepco had restarted unscheduled power outages stretching up to 15 hours in the district, adding that worst loadshedding had forced closure of industries, especially small units, depriving a large number of workers of their livelihood.Meanwhile, local citizens and Housewives Associations have also lashed out at the Gepco authorities for increasing the duration of loadshedding which, according to them, has made their lives miserable.Two drug peddlers held: The Vanike Tarar Police have arrested two notorious drug peddlers and seized 210 grams of heroin for their possession.  On a tip-off, the Vanike Tarar Police conducted raids at dens of Zafar Iqbal and Lala and arrested them red-handed selling contraband.  The police also recovered the contraband and registered two separate cases. Cash, ornaments, cellphones looted: Dacoits snatched hundreds of thousands of rupees from two persons in two different strikes here the other night. Reportedly, two bandits snatched Rs45,000 from a filling station manager Israr Ahmad near Solgin Awan. In another incident, four dacoits entered the house of Arif in Mubarak Colony.  They took the family hostage and looted gold ornaments, 2 cellphones and cash. The police have registered separate cases.
