LAHORE – Gangsters on Thursday hit the Punjab Capital for no less than 12 times, robbed five residences, looted motorists and passersby and made off with cash gold ornaments and other valuables worth millions of rupees, police sources claimed.
Robbers barged into the house of Qamarul Zaman in Badami Bagh police area, held up the family members at gunpoint and escaped after collecting cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs one million.
Gunmen stormed into the house of Dr Usman in the Shadman police precincts and fled away after snatching cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs800,000 after holding the inmates hostage at gunpoint.
Robbers forced their entry into the house of Naseer Ahmed in Baghbanpura police area and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs500,000.
Armed bandits also looted the residences of Razzaq and Nawaz in Ichhra and Harbanspura police area and took away cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables Rs700,000.
Mansoor and his family was deprived of cash and valuables worth Rs100,000 from Ravi Road police area while motorcyclists held up Azhar and his family in Masti Gate police vicinity and snatched away cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables worth tens of thousands of rupees.
Meanwhile, three cars and four motorcycles were either snatched or stolen away from South Cantonment, Shera Kot, and Samanabad, and Lower Mall, Bhatti Gate, Millat Park and Iqbal Town police areas, respectively.
Also, a 35-year-old man was found strangled from Shahdara area, police said on Thursday night. Police investigators said that the man, later identified as Muhammad Riaz, was lying dead near the Railways Chowki as they reached the spot. Some passersby spotted the body and informed the police. 
Investigators believed that unidentified killers strangled the resident of Narowal to death and fled away after throwing his body on the road. The police have shifted the body to the morgue for an autopsy and are investigating.
