The Pakistan cricket team has been announced for the upcoming ODI and T20 cricket series with Australia. Younis Khan, a veteran of 254 ODIs, was not selected. The right handed, experienced batsman, was recalled to the side for the ODI series in Sri Lanka in August, but as bad luck would have it, he had to return home owing to the death of his nephew. He played the 1st ODI in which he scored only 3 runs. Chief selector Moin Khan while announcing the team said: “Our experiment with Younis in the ODI series in Sri Lanka backfired.” This statement by Moin Khan is very strange, because how can a player’s form be judged by only one match? It would have been better if Younis was selected in the team, as our World Cup team needs experienced players, and we only have Misbahul Haq and Shahid Afridi in the batting department.
