LAHORE - Railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique said that needless criticism of elected representatives is affecting democratic government’s performance.
Addressing an Eid ceremony here on Sunday, the PML-N central leader said that the existing democratic government was being stopped from carrying out work through needless criticisim.
“I request everybody to understand the jobs of elected representatives and avoid negative propaganda against them,” he said. He regretted that an absolute democratic system could not be set up in the country. He said that different hurdles were being created in the path of democracy sometimes through sit-ins and sometimes through other means
He claimed that his party has always remained in constant touch with the people in one way or another to fulfill the requirements of democracy. He asked the other political parties “to introduce democratic behaviors within the parties.” “There is a need to promote democracy among political parties. People should come forward on basis of capability,” stressed the minister.
