It has been reported in the national press that Punjab Governor Salman Taseer has stressed upon all political parties to set aside their political differences to achieve a consensus on Kalabagh dam. He was addressing a 63 member delegation of faculty members and student officers from the Command and Staff college Quetta at the Governor House Lahore on Monday. The Governor deserves all praise for raising the vital issue of Kalabagh dam so boldly for this is the proverbial panacea of all the water and power shortages bedeviling our industry and agriculture. I think the government should consider appointing Governor Taseer as the convener of a committee to achieve consensus on this issue. He has the necessary credentials for taking the unruly bull of public opinion by the horns. Let the President use Mr Taseers unique talents for this end. - DR. M. YAQOOB BHATTI, Lahore, April 27.
