NANKANA SAHIB - Microfinance loans are useful for home cottage industry and also causing poverty alleviation, said the representative of an NGO.
Addressing the opening ceremony of their branch office at Bucheki Town, Rural Community Development Society Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Murtaza said that the NGO was launched at a small town of Mandi Faizabad 15 years ago. He added that it was now working in 10 districts of the Punjab for elimination of poverty and trying hard to achieve its goals.
He vowed that small domestic loans are necessary and helpful to control poverty and unemployment in the country. Prosperity, education and social improvement can be achieved by providing business opportunities and specific training to women who consist of more than half of the country’s population, he observed. “The organisation issued domestic and business micro loans to 250,000 poor villagers leading to constructive betterment in their economic and social conditions,” he said. Later, he distributed cheques of loans to people. Area Manager M Tahir, Sajjad Naveed, Rasheed, Shameem Haider and other notables of the area were also present and appreciated the constructive efforts of the organization.
