LAHORE - Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday said that a suitable site had been selected on Lahore Ring Road for setting up the most modern IT University of the country.

He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the website of a computer company regarding traffic management. Punjab IT Board Chairman Dr Umar Saif was also present on the occasion.

“The university is being established with the collaboration of Turkey’s Middle East Technical University,” said the CM, adding the first campus of the university would be set up in Arfa Software Technology Park for the facilitation of students. He held that the university would set new educational standards in the country with regard to providing education of international level in computer and other science subjects. Shahbaz Sharif said his government was setting up Daanish Technical University for providing international standard computer education to youth and that the Punjab cabinet had already given approval in principle to the establishment of the university while the formal approval would be sought in the next cabinet meeting, he added.

While lauding the website designed by Sakib Berjess Tahir for providing guidance in traffic management, he said that Pakistani youths were talented and would put the country on the road to progress and prosperity by ridding it of problems.

He directed Sakib Berjess Tahir to plan such safety projects in consultation with education, transport and other concerned departments which would help educate the people regarding safe driving and saving the human lives in accidents on the roads.
