MULTAN-The last of the three kidnapped sisters could not be recovered till filing of this report while the two slain girls were laid to rest here in a local cemetery on Monday.

Police sources said that an ex-wife of an uncle of the deceased girls namely Nasrin Bibi and her current husband Mazhar had been arrested and being quizzed by a team but the police were still clueless about the murderer or the third missing girl. Police also registered a case against the arrested woman and her husband on complaint of the father of the girls namely Iqbal, resident of Inayatpur Mahoota.

The girls Mehr Bano, Zahra and Shahida had been kidnapped by unidentified persons on Friday from a marriage ceremony and later on the dead bodies of Mehr Bano and Zahra were recovered from Nawabpur Canal.

Post Mortem report indicated that the girls were either strangled to death or suffocated with a pillow. Police suspected that the third girl Shahida had also been murdered as the police and Rescue 1122 personnel continued the operation to recover the body.

The father of the girls Iqbal accused Nasrin of killing his daughters and told police that the ex-wife of his brother had given him threats of serious consequences.

He alleged that Nasrin kidnapped the girls from the marriage ceremony and murdered them with the help of her husband. However, sources said that police also investigated into the case on some other lines as the statements of the father of the girls were suspicious.
