CHUNIAN-Pakistan Army will observe Martyrs Day on Wednesday (tomorrow) to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives while protecting the motherland.

Different functions and ceremonies will be held at Corps Headquarters including at Chunian Garrison across the country to highlight the gallantry of the martyred soldiers on the same.

Talking to The Nation Major Kamran Nabi Malik told that 80 families of the martyred soldiers belonging to District Kasur had been invited to a ceremony to be held on the day at 7:00pm.

Kasuris serving in Pak Army have always stood with their bold blood and rifles in front of enemy with zeal and zest. Families of the martyrs of 1965, 1971, Kargil, Siachin and Operation Meezan will participate in the ceremony. He added, "We have no chief guest except the families of the martyrs."

Brigadier Atif Shafique Chuhadry, Brigade Commander 3-Independent Armour Brigade group will be the chief host. Wreath laying ceremony will be held at Yaadgar-e-Shuhada Chunian and schoolchildren will perform tableaus and the families will narrate stories of the bravery of their sons.

The day also has its significance on account of launch of operation rah-e-Rast against militants in Malakand Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is to be noted that September 6, is celebrated as Defence Day in the memory of Army martyrs having won Nishan-e-Haider while  April 30, is celebrate to pay tribute to great sacrifices of all other martyrs of Pakistan Army who fought till their last breath for the motherland.

RALLY SUPPORTS ARMY: People took to the streets in different areas to express solidarity with Pak Army and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

The rally started from Katchery Road led by social and political leader Mehr Mohammad Hayat Lak and concluded after reaching Shaheen Chowk.
