Prof Ibrahim condemns talk of Op

PESHAWAR - Member of Taliban Committee Prof. Mohammad Ibrahim Khan Monday strongly condemned air chief’s statement regarding operation against Taliban, saying dialogue is the only solution to the problem.
“Neither operation can restore peace nor Islam can be implemented through suicide attacks. Instead of standing up against anti-Islamic forces, the use of weapons against own people is the agenda of former dictator Pervez Musharraf and that is still being followed,” he added.
“The Taliban committee, he said, is wishing to have a meeting with the army chief and DG ISI aimed at putting the peace process on right track. Involving army in negotiation process will be useful,” he added.
Talking to media persons here at the Almarkazi Islami, Prof Ibrahim said that Maulana Yousaf Shah, another member of the committee, has made contact with Taliban and asked two days time from them to make consultation over negotiation process with the government.
He said that the government talks team had asked them for making contact with Taliban, adding that the negotiators were now waiting for response of Taliban Shura and would leave for meeting whenever they receive a call from the TTP for having a meeting somewhere in tribal areas. He hoped that they might receive response from Taliban in couple of days. Mohammad Ibrahim Khan also strongly condemned attack on a religions seminary in Karachi and said that agenda of talks is peace and establishment of ceasefire from both sides was necessary. “We will ask both side to intact ceasefire,” he added.
He expressed concerns over happening of certain acts of terrorism after the end of ceasefire, saying at this stage, a minor incident could cause trouble.
He also severely condemned the decision of an Egyptian court by handing down death penalty on some 689 members of Ikhwanul Muslimin.
