PESHAWAR - The residents of PK-10 and PK-11, Pesahwar have threatened to destroy huge power pylons, supplying electricity to rest parts of the province, if power was not restored to their respective localities within a week.

Addressing a news conference here at the Peshawar Press Club, convener of a local peace committee Badbher Tappa Mohmand Peshawar Arshad Advocate said that Pesco authorities had completely disconnected electricity to their villages in Town-IV.

He said that due to disconnection of electricity to their areas, the inhabitants were facing great difficulties, including acute shortage of drinking water, and compelled them to migrate from their areas.

He informed that their villages adjacent to lawless tribal areas of FR Peshawar, Dara Adam Khel and Khyber Agency were facing great security threats to locals.

"On one hand the area's people are facing the brunt of militancy while on other hand, the Pesco has disconnected power by plunging the whole area into darkness," he added.

The press conference was also attended by political  parties representatives, including Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamiat Ullema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan People's Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz PML-N), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Qaumi Watan Party.

About the Pesco line losses at PK-10 and PK-11, he said that an agreement was signed between the locals and Pesco authorities concerned and according to which the authority would install power meters and remove direct hooks at these localities but the agreement was yet to be materialised to ensure uninterrupted power supply to these localities.

He said that the Sheikh Mohamadi Power Grid Station and two others big power pylons were set up on the lands of local people, wherein high power transmission system was installed due to which their lands were turned futile. He asked that Pesco authorities to restore electricity supply to their areas, otherwise, they would be compelled to dismantle power supply line to other parts of the province by destroying electricity pylons.

Meanwhile, speaking at another press conference, Qaumi Watan Party Chairman tehsil Shabqadar Zafar Ali expressed concern over the disconnection of electricity supply to 11 power feeders, plunging more than 25 villages into darkness.

Despite the recovery of huge electricity dues, he said the Pesco officials disconnected power supply to entire Shabqadar tehsil, which they termed injustice and unfair on the part of company.

He asked the Pesco high-ups to negotiate with locals, who were ready to pay electricity dues and bills but they would not accept suspension of their electricity.

He warned that if the Pesco was failed to hold talks with them in next two day till April 30, they would devise a future course of action, whether to observe shutter down strike and wheel jam strike in the entire tehsil Shabqadar, Charsadda.
