RAWALPINDI -Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Procurement Haroon Baist has said that the government would buy wheat from the farmers at the rate of Rs 1260 per mound across the province.
He said that the government has set a target of purchasing 500 tons of wheat from farmers in Rawalpindi district while 1500 tons in Jhelum and 1000 and 2000 tons of wheat in Chakwal and Attock respectively. The minister expressed these views at a meeting held in DCO Officer in connection with wheat purchasing here on Monday. DCO Sajid Zafar Dall, ADCD and District Food Controller Shaukat Siyal, Director Social Welfare Aslam Metla, Deputy Director Food Muhammad Ajmal, AC Cannt Nazia Perveen Sudhan, AC City Qurat-ul-Ain Malik and officers of many others departments concerned also attended the meeting.
Haroon Baist said that the following the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif, the government would achieve the set target of wheat purchasing in any case. He said that strict action would also be taken against those officials found negligent in purchasing of wheat from farmers.
The government has started buying wheat in South Punjab whereas harvesting was in process in all other areas, he said. Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Haroon Basit directed the Food Controller Rawalpindi to make all out efforts to achieve the set target of wheat purchasing in the district.
