The Federal Ministry of CADD is in the process of acquiring Argentina Park from Capital Development Authority to construct over there a multi-storied building to meet the requirements of a Postgraduate teaching hospital level. Prima facie this initiative is neither fair nor justified by any legal, social and environmental standards as stated below:-
The landed area presently in use and possession of F.G.P.C contains different blocks/ wings constructed from time to time in the past without adhering to a proper designing aiming at utilizing minimum landed space for obtaining maximum covered area with the result that the building now up even with the supplemented blocks/ wings falls short of the requirements of a teaching level hospital. Solution of this kind of situation does not necessarily lie in acquiring more open land from the adjoining Argentina Park to construct a high-rise/ gigantic building over there but to manage utilization of the already available land by dismantling the existing super structure and re-designing/ re-building a multi-storied building comprising different compact blocks so as to meet the potential needs of an upgraded hospital without disrupting the status of Argentina Park being that of a public park accepted in the city’s Master Plan/ CDA bye-laws.
