Islamabad permanent residents to get health insurance card: SAPM health

ISLAMABAD - Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Health Services (NHS) Dr. Faisal Sultan on Wednesday said around 258,000 permanent resident families of the city will be facilitated with the national health insurance programme.
He said this after chairing the meeting of National Steering Committee on Sehat Sahulat Programme. Health Minister for Punjab, Dr. Yasmeen Rashid participated in the meeting through video call while Secretary Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) Aamir Ashraf Khawaja also attended the meeting.
The meeting held reviewed the performance of the Sehat Sahulat Programme. SAPM on NHS Dr. Faisal Sultan said that following the directions of the Prime Minister (PM), it has been decided to give health cards to permanent residents of Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
 “Around 258,000 families of the federal capital will be facilitated with health cards,” said Dr. Faisal Sultan.
He said that GB’s 328,000 families will benefit from the health cards. Dr. Faisal Sultan also said that massive reforms are being done in the health sector and ministry will make Islamabad a health model city. 
He also stated that government is committed to ensuring Universal Health Coverage and has spread the health cards programme to the entire country
He also informed that the programme is running in 96 districts of Pakistan and nearly 16 million families benefit from health cards in the country.
He also said health cards will be given to all permanent residents of seven districts of Punjab within the next two months. These districts include Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Sahiwal, Pak Patan, Okara, and Muzaffargarh.
The rest of the districts in Punjab will be covered by December, he said.
