LAHORE - Sindh Minster for sports Dr Muhammad Ali Shah hoped that Pakistan team led by Younis Khan would win the ICC Champions Trophy as it had done by achieving the title of Twenty20 World Championship in England this year. He was speaking at the Iftar/dinner, hosted by the Sports Journalists Association of Sindh (SJAS), at a local hotel on Thursday in honour of triumphant Captain Younis Khan. Khan attended the function despite being indisposition and thanked the SJAS for feting him in an impressive manner. Dr Shah showering praises on Younis Khan said that besides being a talented cricketer, great leader, he is also a good human being and God always helps such people. Dr Shah accepted the life-membership of SJAS and said that no group could be succeeded unless it was united on a common platform and it was a great achievement on the part of Sports Journalists, who had gathered in a representative body. He extended his full support to SJAS. Earlier, Rashid Ali Siddiqui, Secretary General, SJAS, highlighting the aims and objectives of the association, said that their efforts bore fruit in a few months of its inception and the body is being recognized at the national as well as international level. Sardar Khan, President SJAS, expressed satisfaction over the great success, achieved by the SJAS in few months and said that the whole community of sports journalists prayed for the success of Younis Khan in the Champions Trophy. On the occasion, shield was handed over to Dr Shah. Younis Khan was presented with the SJAS souvenir for winning the T20 World Championship by Yahaya Hussaini, Vice President SJAS. Former test fast bowler and now coach Jalaluddin and Assistant Collector Custom Waqar Hussain were also honoured with shields. Ubaid-ur-Rehman, Finance Secretary, SJAS and Zubair Nazir, Vice President SJAS also spoke on the occasion.
