Altaf hatching conspiracies against nation: JI

MULTAN - Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Syed Munawar Hassan has alleged that the aid received from international community for flood victims is being misappropriated. Addressing a news conference here at Jamiaul Uloom on Saturday, he pointed out that the dates sent by Saudi Arabia for the flood affectees were being sold in Lahore and other cities. He regretted that the affectees could not get even a single date from that dispatch and it was sold out at cheaper rates by the corrupt elements in the government. He stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government received about 0.25million tents for flood affectees but not even a single of these tents was seen anywhere in the province. He said that the tent villages visible in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were set up by Al-Khidmat Foundation and other organisations. He said that the method to distribute aid received from the world was ambiguous, asking the government to form a national flood relief commission forthwith. All organisations working on flood relief operation should be taken on board in this commission so that a unanimous strategy can be evolved for future, he added. He suggested to the government to distribute foreign aid through the proposed commission. He assured the rulers that the JI and Al-Khidmat Foundation would extend full support to the Islamabad in distribution of aid. He alleged that the influential people and members of government sunk populated cities in floodwater to save their lands. He was of the opinion that most part of devastation caused by the flooding could have been averted, had the rulers given sacrifice. Citing an example, he said that Jacobabad was sacrificed on American airbase as the water was diverted towards the city. He said that the airbase was in American use for the last 10 years and even Pakistan Air Force was not allowed to enter this base. He said that over 1500 precious human lives were lost just in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province due to the negligence and inefficiency of the government. This tragedy took place because the government had not given any flood warning to the poor citizens, he added. He said that the rulers and their entire hierarchy were ineligible as they failed to make assessment of losses as yet. He said that the federal and all five provincial governments completely failed in rescue operation. He said that most parts of the country turned into small quagmires where thousands of animals were stuck to death. He feared that this situation would lead to outbreak of diseases. He said that MQM chief Altaf Hussain was hatching a conspiracy against 180 million Pakistanis and Pak Army on American instigation. He (Altaf) delivers speeches against landlords and feudals while on the other hand his party always provides crutches to these people to form governments, he added. He was of the opinion that the government and its other coalition partners should have expelled MQM from the treasury. He said that it was disappointing that nothing was done against Altaf Hussain so far except to releasing mere statements. Referring to Sialkot tragedy, he said that mere condemnations could not heal the wounds of the aggrieved family. He revealed the judicial committee would submit its report before the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on September 1 and the heirs of the martyred boys would get justice. To a query, he said that the country needed new and big dams and the government should immediately launch the projects of Munda and other dams. He maintained that the Sharif brothers were doing nothing except to carrying out visits of the affected areas. He said that the rulers did nothing for the public in this difficult time and therefore the masses would carry out their accountability very soon.
