Minister for Cooperative Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar has said that there is no threat of flood in the division and situation is under control as water has started receding at Ganda Singh Wala, Head Sulemanki, Head Islam and Head Panjund.

He said that the relief work for the flood affectees was under progress in different areas of the Bahawalpur division.

In a Radio interview, he said that the Punjab government was fully alive to meet the flood challenges in the province and had taken necessary measure for relief and rehabilitation.

He said that the River Sutlej was flowing normally and all the protective bunds were safe and secure and under strict watch while the affected people had been shifted to relief camps where all possible facilities were being provided to them.

He appealed to the philanthropists to come ahead and help the flood affectees. Meanwhile, the water level at Empress Bridge, River Setluj near city on Multan Road was around 9.5 ft.

Meanwhile, DCO Nabeel Javed, Khanpur AC Abdul Ghaffar, District Emergency Officer Dr Abdul Sattar and Rescue 1122 Khanpur’s Tehsil In-charge Adeel Ghaffar visited the Chachraan Band here the other day. During the visit the District Emergency Officer pointed-out the dangerous spots. He also appreciated the Rescue 1122 Khanpur workers and told about the safety precautions.

The Rescue 1122 relief camp is working under the supervision of the District Emergency Officer and Tehsil In-charge from 15th of August.

Rescue 1122 recovered the dead body of the boy and handed over to deceased father’s Muhammad Talib. IUB MEETING: The 55th Syndicate meeting of the Islamia University Bahawalpur was held here which was by the IUB/GSCWU Vice-ChancellorDr Muhammad Mukhtar.

In the meeting, various financial, administrative and academic matters were discussed and after reviewing, approved the related issues put for recommendations.
