The crackdown on electricity and gas thieves continued in Multan region on Wednesday as theft at 10 guest houses and five factories was traced by the District Task Force.

The team conducted a surprising raid at ghee and oil mills on Vehari Road and unearthed gas theft worth over Rs25 million. The gas officials claimed that gas was being stolen through a bogus metre. The owner and manager of the mill managed to escape while police sealed the premises besides taking a guard into custody. Similarly, the task force conducted raids in Ghazi Abad and Koraywala areas and unearthed gas and electricity theft at 10 guest houses and four plastic factories.

PLANTATION: The Multan Corps launched monsoon plantation drive in cantonment and adjoining areas on Wednesday. The drive was kicked off by the son of a martyred major Hassan Waheed who planted a sapling at Yadgar-e-Shuhada in presence of Corps Commander Multan Lt-Gen Abid Parvez. The Multan Corps will plant over 3,500 saplings in Multan besides launching plantation campaigns in cantonment areas of Sahiwal, Khanewal and Abdul Hakim.
