The National Labour Federation (NLF) took out a protest rally on Thursday to condemn the registration of cases against 24 labour leaders and rickshaw drivers for taking out a rally against traffic police.

NLF Central President Shamsur Rehman Swati led the rally of rickshaw drivers and trade unions’ activists which started from Shahbaz Chowk and ended outside Press Club on Jhang Road. The participants condemned the registration of cases against two dozen leaders of Rickshaw Drivers Association and NLF for taking out a rally and blocking road.

Addressing the participants, trade union leaders said that two labour leaders including Faisalabad division National Labour Federation (NLF) Deputy Secretary Majeed Salik and Rickshaw Drivers Association President Abdul Jabbar Bhuller were arrested. They warned that if FIRs were not quashed till September 5 and cases were not registered again policemen involved in torture, a big rally will be taken out in Toba and a sit-in would also be staged. They also warned a sit-in would also be staged outside CM’s House in Lahore on September 6.
