PPP won’t accept unconstitutional step, says Shah

ISLAMABAD - While the protesting parties are repeatedly demanding PM’s resignation, opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah Thursday made it clear that the issue is not protection of prime minister but the Constitution of the country.
“Issue is not the protection of the PM but the Constitution, as supremacy of Constitution is a top priority,” said Khursheed while responding to a question about PPP’s stance on the current political turmoil.
The PPP would not support any unconstitutional step against democratic system in the country, he maintained. About the decision of registering an FIR in Model Town, he said, “It’s never too late to mend.
Tahirul Qadri should come forward for the sake of the country,” he said, urging the PAT chief to show flexibility to resolve the current crisis.
To a question, he also said that PPP would strongly oppose every step beyond the Constitution.
