KHYBER AGENCY - Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) FATA Sunday welcomed the reforms package for tribal belt and asked federal government to give tribal areas a status of separate province instead of merging it into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

These views were expressed by Ameer JUI-F FATA, Mufti Abdul Shakoor Betani while talking to reporters in Landi Kotal press club on Sunday.

Flanked by General Secretary JUI-F FATA, Mufti Ijaz Shinwari and Deputy Secretary Information, Qari Jihad Shah said that elimination of Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) was the need of time and asked for imposing of Shariah law in the tribal areas.

JUI-F leadership was against the merger of FATA into KP and it was emphasizing government for giving FATA a status of separate province, he clarified.

He also demanded of the central government to announce special monetary package for affected tribesmen because the entire infrastructure in FATA had been destroyed beside displacement of millions of tribal people in war against terrorism.

The displaced tribesmen not only left their homes but also resided in camps in parts of Khyber Pakhtunhkhwa, he added.

However, he asked government to hold local bodies’ polls in tribal belt like other provinces in the country.

JUI-F ameer also urged federal government to enhance rehabilitation and reconstruction package for affected tribesmen from around Rs 0.4 million to Rs 1 million in addition with provision of compensation for valuables. An industrial zone should also be established across FATA so that tribesmen could revive business related activities, he stressed.
