MIRPUR (AJK)-MLA Ch Saeed said that the PML-N government will initiate revolutionary reforms to strengthen the AJK economy got weakened because of the poor policies and bad governance of the outgoing PPP rulers.

Talking to journalists at Kashmir Press Club, Ch Saeed said that the newly-elected AJK government headed by Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan will implement the pre-election commitments and mass public-welfare policies enshrined in the manifesto of the party without any discrimination.

Ch Saeed said that in order to ensure the supply of gas to Mirpur city including adjoining Mian Muhammad Town, a full fledge office of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd is being established in Mirpur next month.

He pointed out that the gas supply to the remaining residential parts of the city would be executed. The MLA said that through the execution of the public-welfare projects, people of Mirpur would soon see a rapid progress including the execution and completion of water supply and sewerage schemes, resettlement and rehabilitation of Mangla dam affectees and Jammu Kashmir refugees, Benazir Income Support Programme, completion of Mirpur-Islamgarh bridge and revolutionary reforms in Mirpur Development Authority, Mangla Dam Housing Authority and the civic bodies.

To a question about the establishment of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Muzaffarabad as recently announced by the AJK prime minister, Ch Saeed dispelled the impression about division of the existing Mirpur-based AJK Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education - through the emergence of the proposed BISE in the capital city.

He declared that proposed establishment of BISE in Muzaffarabad would not affect the resources of the AJK BISE Mirpur. He also agreed to discourage the new inductions of persons, hailing from the areas other than Mirpur against the vacant positions in Mirpur-based government functionaries.

He said that under the dynamic leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, the AJK government was determined to promote a new all prejudices-free political culture in Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The new government has started inking a broad-based mass welfare plan for the amelioration of the life style of the common man in the liberated area. Ch Saeed admitted that during the outgoing AJK regime, the means of corruption emerged in the under-construction and still incomplete Rs7 billion greater water supply and sewerage project in Mirpur city. He flayed the sub-standard construction work on the project totally contrary to the agreement, specification and contract of the mega project.

Saeed further said that under the contract, authority concerned should have got tested the water supply pipelines before burying them to check the possibility of their leakage. “But this determined criteria to ensure the quality work on the project was totally ignored by the officials of the institution, he added.

Ch Saeed also expressed grave concern over inordinate delay in Rs750 million Rathua-Harryam bridge being constructed over Mangla lake between Mirpur and adjoining village of Islamgarh.

The MLA lauded the role of the civil society including media which, what he said, helped PML-N in embracing landslide victory in the recent general elections in Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

He said that there was no room for the corrupt politicians on the political horizon of AJK since the visionary people of AJK totally rejected the corrupt characters in the state politics in the general elections.
