Six ventilators at Benazir Hospital out of order

Rawalpindi: Six ventilators are non-functional at Benazir General Hospital putting the lives of hundreds of patients at risk.

Sources said that there are a total 12 ventilators, out of which four are functional while six, out of order. The other two ventilators remain out of order most of the time, sources added.

Around 3000 patients visit the hospital daily.

The government of Punjab has approved 40 ventilators but delay in provision of required equipment has further deteriorated the situation.

Ventilator is a machine that is used to provide breathing support mechanically to patients who are unable to breathe normally or incapable of breathing sufficiently.
