RAWALPINDI - Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Bin Ashraf has placed a traffic warden under suspension for knocking over scores of motorcycles to accord protocol to Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in Bohar Bazaar near Lal Haveli.
A departmental inquiry has also been launched against the traffic warden identified as Riaz on orders of CTO
According to sources, traffic warden Riaz was imparting duty in Bohar Bazaar to smooth the traffic flow when Federal Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed’s official convoy passed through the area. The minister expressed his concerns over illegally parked motorcycles on both sides of the road that was causing hurdle in smooth flow of traffic. Sources said the warden asked shopkeepers not to allow anybody to park motorcycles along the road or else he would lift motorcycles. In the meanwhile, the traffic warden started knocking over motorcycles that parked illegally instead of giving a chance to owners to move their bikes to make the road free for convoy of the minister. On this, the shopkeepers and traders staged a protest demo against the traffic police and the Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.
Meanwhile, the video of knocking over motorcycles by a traffic warden to please Sheikh Rashid Ahmed went viral on social media while earning wrath of CTO. The CTO suspended traffic warden with immediate effect and held inquiry against him.
A spokesman to CTO has confirmed suspension of the traffic warden by CTO for damaging Public motorcycles to accord welcome to the minister.
