BB, PBIT sign MoU

LAHORE - Memorandum of Understanding between Big Bird and Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) would not only enhance production of poultry products in the country but it would also help pave way of their exports as the MoU envisages establishment of a new meat processing plant near Lahore, says a press release. The Memorandum of Understanding to this regard was signed with Punjab Board of Investment and Trade in the presence of Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Senator Ishaq Dar. The Chief Executive Officer Big Bird Abdul Basit inked the MoU on behalf of his group while Vice Chairman PBIT Rizwan Khan represented Punjab Board of Investment and Trade. Speaking on the occasion, the CEO Big Bird said that the MoU would have far reaching impact on the poultry sector because on the one hand it would create new job opportunities while on the other the country would be able to earn much needed foreign exchange. He said that a huge demand for the Halal meat around the globe and Pakistan has a great potential to participate in the export of Halal meat but to achieve the goal, the government in collaboration with the private sector would have to evolve a Halal meat export strategy. While paying tributes to Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif for enhancing exports, Abdul Basit said that the Chief Minister has taken solid measures for strengthening trade relations with China, Turkey and Iran that would yield positive results in coming days. He said that Dubai Investment Conference was an ample proof of CM's efforts in right direction. The Vice Chairman PBIT Rizwan Khan said that the government of Punjab was taking all possible measures to make the province a hub of business activities and the MoU with Big Bird is a part of Investment Promotion Strategy launched by the Chief Minister Punjab.
