LAHORE - The Government should develop new hydel & coal fired thermal power stations for provision of cheaper power in public sector to overcome loadshedding and meet growing demand of energy in the country and pay dues to WAPDA worth more than Rs100 billions, says a press release. It was further demanded government should check price hike of essential commodities and bring to books to black marketers and hoarders and profiteers at the cost of the poor masses and freeze prices of essential items. The demands were voiced in a resolution passed in a conference held on Tuesday at Gujranwala held under the aegis of Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union CBA that was presided over by Iqbal Dar Regional Chairman. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Khurshid Ahmed General Secretary declared that the Danger Allowance to Line Staff has been raised Rs 5000/- pm for the Lineman Grade II & I. He declared that the pay scales of Computer and Drawing and Steno Grapher have been raised through settlement. He declared that the union has also been struggling to defeat the move to privatize the national public utility since their privatization would be against the public interest. He urged to the workers to strengthen their unity.
