Portman engaged

ACTRESS Natalie Portman has lots to celebrate after announcing her engagement. The American star, 29, in a statement to EW.com said: 'I have always kept my private life private but I will say that I am indescribably happy and feel very grateful to have this experience. The couple met in late 2009 while filming ballet drama The Black Swan, which Portman has received critical acclaim and a slew of award nominations for. French-born Millepied, 32, a classically trained ballet dancer who studied at the School of American Ballet as a teenager, was hired by filmmakers to choreograph Portmans dances. The Black Swan tells the story of a prima ballerina called Nina, who suffers from a series of self-destructive habits. For the role, Portman lost 20 pounds from her already slim frame and trained for up to eight hours a day. DM In a recent interview, Portman rather tellingly revealed she had started eating a lot more since the film wrapped. She told Vogue magazine: 'I consume my own weight in hummus every day. I cook a lot, and I even do vegan baking. 'I like pleasure, I like joy. Id never get to the point where I would starve or injure myself like [my character] Nina does. 'Im the opposite - when Im hungry, I eat, and I always make sure Im eating something delicious. -DM
