LAHORE - A memorandum of understanding was signed between Punjab government and Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists of Turkey (TUSKON) for cooperation in trade, industries and other sectors. The signing ceremony was held at TUSKON Center Istanbul and participated by Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, MPA Khawaja Salman Rafique, Khawaja Ahmad Hasaan, office-bearers of TUSKON as well as investors. Under the agreement, a business conference will be held in Lahore in March for signing agreements for increasing cooperation in various sectors. MPA Mian Mohsin Latif and President TUSKON Rizanur Meral signed the document on behalf of Punjab government and the confederation respectively. Addressing the ceremony, the CM said there were vast opportunities of investment in different sectors in Pakistan, especially Punjab. He said a favourable atmosphere had been created for investment in the province and maximum facilities are being offered to local and foreign investors. He said Punjab and Istanbul could launch joint ventures in various sectors. While welcoming the MoU signed with TUSKON, he said exchange of the visits of delegations would also be made under the agreement. He said Mayor of Istanbul had accepted his invitation to visit Lahore while a delegation of the confederation would also attend the conference to be held in Lahore in March. He mentioned that investors from all over Pakistan would be invited to the conference and a strategy would be evolved for further cooperation in the light of the recommendations of the conference. President TUSKON Rizanur Meral said Turk businessmen were taking interest to invest in Pakistan. He said he would bring a delegation of industrialists to Lahore for attending the conference after completing homework and a strategy would be evolved for launching joint ventures with Punjab.
