ISLAMABAD – Finally, the Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the employees have resolved to end their differences following prescribed procedure in managing affairs of the Commission.

In a meeting with the representatives of HEC’s employees association in the presence of members of the reconciliation committee, HEC Chairman Dr Javaid Laghari vowed to resolve all issues in consultation with the employees and follow prescribed procedure in managing affairs of the Commission. The HEC employees have welcomed the assurance of Dr Laghari to address grievances of the employees. The meeting was held after the reconciliation committee, comprising three vice chancellors, called on Dr Laghari and Engr Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, Acting Executive Director HEC. The Committee consists of Dr Masoom Yasinzai, Vice Chancellor Quaid-e-Azam University, Masood-ul-Hassan, Rector NUML, and Ejaz Malik, Vice Chancellor Air University.

The reconciliation committee also recommended that unrest among employees was due to some administrative problems. The HEC employees have been demanding of their management that proper financial and service rules should be formulated and got approved from the competent forum. Also, services of contractual employees should not be regularised in violation of the recruitment rules.

The employees also affirmed that discipline within the organisation would be maintained and all HEC divisions would continue working together with the higher education institutes and universities with zeal and vigour.
