RAWALPINDI  – Punjab government established IT labs in elementary schools of Rawalpindi tehsil to make them on a par with international standards and modern requirements but failed to hire IT teachers in the schools.

According to reports, the education officers deployed to control the labs are neither provided with IT labs nor computers. Moreover, IT labs have also been opened in some schools, which did not even have electricity. According to sources in the Education Department, the IT labs have been set up in more than 85 elementary schools out of total 170 schools and the step was lauded by the academia and social circles. But the government failed to realize that IT teachers are equally important to impart the skills.

When contacted, DEO Elementary Education (Female) confirming the news said that inducting IT teachers was direly needed now as the IT labs alone were not of any use.
