LAHORE – A private pipe-fitter was electrocuted while another sustained serious injuries in the Shadman police area on Friday.

The deceased, identified as Muhammad Aslam, a resident of Bund Road, was burrowing new water connection along with his helper in a house situated in the Shadman area when the iron rod touched live electric wires.

Both the men received sever electric shocks and were rushed to a local hospital, where Aslam was pronounced dead while the condition of his helper was reported to be critical. The police handed over the dead body to the family after fulfilling legal formalities.

Found dead: A 40-year-old man was found dead from the Bhatti Gate police limits on Friday. Police said that the man, yet to be identified, apparently was a drug addict. Investigators said that the man was lying dead alongside a footpath as they reached the spot.

Some passersby spotted the dead body on early Friday and informed the police. The body was removed to the morgue for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death.

The police are investigating.
