Three dead in violence

KARACHI – Three people were killed in separate violent incidents here on Friday.
A young man was found dead from Syed Mehmood Shah Road within the limits of Napier police station.
Police said that the deceased was identified as thirty-year-old Kashif, son of Abdul Qadir, a resident of Ranchore Lane area.
The deceased went missing since Thursday evening short after he left home for some work. Police officials said that deceased used to work in a mineral water company as a salesman.
Police said the motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained. Police have registered a case against unidentified persons.
Police have found the body of a young man from SITE area. The body was shifted to morgue, Sohrab Goth after medicolegal formalities at Civil Hospital, Karachi. Police officials said that police did not find any physical torture marks and nothing could say about the nature of the incident. Further investigation was underway.
In another incident, a thirty-year-old Kulsom Sumaira, son of Shahzad Haider, was found dead inside her house located in Madina Colony, Orangi Town within the limits of Mominabad police station.
Police officials said that they were informed by the victim’s husband, adding that victim’s husband was running his private business. He told the police that his wife committed suicide by hanging herself with the ceiling fan with the help of her dupatta. On the other hand, victim’s father Wazir Hussain accused that his son-in-law killed his daughter.
Police, however, have registered a case against the victim’s husband and arrested him.
Meanwhile, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan launched Directors’ Training Programme, approved by Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.  An announcement here the other day said that the DTP would be a four-day certification programme planned to be conducted in two sessions of two days each.
It said that the first of such session will be held on January 21 and 22, 2013 in Lahore.  The directors of listed companies would be encouraged to attend the programme specially designed to meet mandatory the directors training requirement under Code of Corporate Governance.
The programme will broadly cover essential principles and practices of corporate governance, applicable corporate laws, business and financial management and corporate and sustainability reporting.  The programme also aimed to ensure familiarity with the global perspective of corporate governance concepts. The programme will feature presentations by professional trainers and industry experts and interactive discussions amongst the participants coupled with case studies so that the participants could get the maximum benefit from exchanging the ideas and experiences with their peers.
