As reported in the Nation, Justice Markandey of India has said that 90 percent of Indians are idiots and are easily incited when it comes to matters of religion. Pakistanis are definitely different but in some matters are easily incited even on matters of technical nature. Asfandyar Wali, for instance, has said that Bhasha and Kutzara Dam are more feasible than Kalabagh Dam. He does not know that Bhasha Dam will be too little too late, a very late replacement for the two ageing dams. He does not know that his province will not get any water from Bhasha Dam, or for that matter, from any dam on the Indus without the right bank canal at KBD. He does not know where Kutzara Dam is and whether it is even on the drawing board as yet. All he knows is that ‘KBD’s construction is against the spirit of federation as it will benefit one province only’. How wrong can one be? Ignorance is a bliss but only until the chickens come home to roost.ENGR KHURSHID ANWER,Lahore, December 10.
