KARACHI - A teenage girl, abducted from Punjab about one and a half year ago, was recovered in a joint raid of Punjab and Sindh police in Karachi’s Lines Area on Saturday.

The girl was abducted from Lahore. Her family registered an FIR 1101/12 at the Shafiqabad police station of Lahore. She was later brought to Karachi and was in the illegal custody of a policeman Shahid, who was posted to the Anti-Car Lifting Cell of the Karachi Police.  SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi said Shahid and his wife Nargis were arrested during the raid. They were accused of forcing the girl for illegal activities.  The officer said the suspects had also demanded Rs0.5 million from her family to return the girl. He said the girl had been handed over to the Lahore Police.


Law enforcers during the targeted operation arrested around 107 criminals on Saturday. Pakistan Rangers Sindh claimed to have apprehended 15 hardened criminals during separate targeted raids in Rahimabad, Korangi, Samama Shopping Centre, Bhittiaabad, Gharibabad, Malir, Zia Colony, Mehran Town, Jamali Goth, Manghopir, Orangi, Pathan Colony, Frontier Colony, Dhobi Ghat and Singholane. The official also claims to have recovered weapons from their custody. Moreover, Karachi Police claimed to have arrested around 88 criminals during separate targeted raids. The arrests were made during 63 raids and eight encounters. It recovered weapons of 23 different types of calibers.

Separately, Sohrab Goth Police detained an alleged suspect Ahmed after an exchange of fire at Super Highway while his accomplice was managed to escape under the cover of firing. A TT pistol was also recovered from the possession of the detainee.  Similarly, Korangi Industrial Area Police nabbed two suspects, including Noor Nabi and Nasir Bengali and recovered two TT pistols and drugs from their custody. The arrest was made during an exchange of fire. Another suspect was taken into custody during an exchange of fire with the Shershah Police.

The suspect was identified as Majid Ali. Weapon was also recovered from his possession.
