LAHORE - Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan has said that transformation of Pakistan into a welfare state is the mission of government. He said that the new generation will have to adopt the four principles of hard work, service, honesty and faith for materialising the dreams of Allama Iqbal and sayings of Quaid-e-Azam.

He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony of distributing cash prizes of Rs.12.23 crore among 271 outstanding students on Saturday.

Iqbal hoped that the government will ensure bright future for coming generations in Pakistan. He congratulated the parents of position holder girl and boy students due to the hard work and sacrifice of which these students achieved top positions.

Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said that the position holders are pride of Pakistan and they would play a vital role in the progress and development of Pakistan in future. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has always talked to ensure corruption-free environment in Pakistan. Rana Mashhood said that law & order situation and good governance in Punjab is better than other provinces. He said that if we worked together, the real Pakistan would emerge as envisioned by our forefathers after rendering numerous sacrifices. He said that promotion of education is our first priority as no nation can become economically strong and make progress without getting 100 per cent literacy rate.  On the occasion, first position holder students were awarded Rs.4 lakh each while Rs.2 lakh each were awarded to second position holders. Position holders Maleeha Saleem, Shazmina Fatima, Ahmad Ali Aziz, Nida Zehra, Aashir Anwar, Shehryar Warraich, Arzoo Malik and Shaistan Khan also spoke on the occasion and paid rich tributes to Punjab Chief Minister for encouraging the students of other provinces.
