PESHAWAR - A Pakistani citizen was killed while another wounded by the mortar shells fired from Afghanistan side at Nawagai Town in Bajaur tribal agency, officials said on Saturday.

Security officials said that the incident took place in border town of Nawagai area in Bajaur agency, bordering Afghanistan.

"Three mortar shells were fired from Kunar province of Afghanistan and one of them landed on a Pakistani village," officials said.

Some shells landed in another area but no life loss was reported.

Officials did not immediately confirmed whether the shells were fired by Afghan border troops or miscreants battling the US-led Nato forces in Afghanistan. Pakistan has been lodging protest with the Afghan government through military and other channels.
