After the lifting of ban from capital punishment in Pakistan, the electronic media seems to have become over excited or should I say irresponsible towards our national interests. Without knowing the consequences, or rather knowingly, on 18th of this month one of the TV channels showed names and the prison locations of the convicted terrorists, whose appeals have already been exhausted. Do they need to be told what our national interests are? And what material to be on air, and what to be not, is it that difficult to differentiate between the former and the latter? Keeping in view the prevailing circumstances and the past record of consistent jail breaks, such callous attitude is a clear invitation to the terrorists. It is time that a proper code of conduct, for media and in particular for electronic media, be chalked out and be implemented in true letter and spirit
