Karachi- The Sindh Government has announced an interim relief of Rs100,000 to the affectees of the Timber Market fire incident.

The fire that broke out in Karachi’s Timber Market in Old Haji Camp late on Saturday night was brought under control after a struggle  of 11-hourby fire fighters. The fire caused tens of millions of rupees losses but fortunately there were no casualties.

The Old Haji Camp area houses several commercial warehouses where timber is stored for the furniture manufacturing industry. The warehouses are surrounded by a densely populated residential area.

Reportedly, 86 buildings, 28 godowns and more than 100 houses have been gutted due to the fire.

According to fire authorities, cooling process is underway where 10 fire brigade vehicles and 60 fire fighters are working at the site.
