LAHORE - The tension between Federal Board of Revenue’s Management and the Union is escalating, as another 15 employees of lower ranks have been suspended for protesting the atrocities of the high officials at Regional Tax Office Lahore.
The union and managements have held several rounds of talks and a final meeting is going to be held on Monday (today) and we hope the management will accept our all demands which are all legal, said the FBR Union central president Mian Abdul Qayyum. “If our genuine issues are not redressed within the given times till Monday (December 29) the workers will shut the whole FBR across the country. Chief Commissioner will be responsible for this strike as we do not want closure of tax offices at the closing dates of calendar year.” The Federal Revenue Alliance Employees Union (FBR Union) criticized the Inspector General of Punjab Police for deploying hundreds of policemen at Regional Tax Office, baton charging and registering FIRs against workers just for protesting for their rights.
Union central president said that IGP Mushtaq Sukhera, just to favor his badge mate chief commissioner Waqar Ahmed, sent 350 to 400 police force to control a little number of workers at a small RTO, who were raising voice against the atrocities of the chief commissioner in a democratic and legal way.“The workers were protesting against poor security arrangements and for manhandling of a bailiff (Arif Baig) who is now paralyzed at a local hospital. The union was also protesting for a lower divisional clerk (Muhammad Ajmal) who died for not going through dialyses treatment, as his medical bills had not been cleared for the last four months by the chief commissioner.”
A prayer for the innocent martyrs of Pishawar was also a part of our workers’ gathering but the attack of hundreds of police, on the order of IGP to please his badge mate chief commissioner, on unarmed FBR staff and FIRs against them, thwarted a peaceful demonstration.
The police fail to take action against decoits and terrorists and rangers and army are appealed to fight against them but it is brave in showing efficiency against lower ranked officials who rise voice for their rights in a legal way.
“The FBR Union requests the FBR Chairman, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff to take action against the IGP for thwarting the peaceful atmosphere of RTO by deploying hundreds of policemen there. The innocent people turn to be docoits and terrorists due to mentally ill bureaucrats like the chief commissioner who have no time for even meeting with their lower staff.”
