Rawalpindi - The Anti Narcotics Force carried out raids against drug pushers across the country and arrested 28 smugglers besides recovering 913 kilograms of narcotics, a spokesman said on Thursday.

The spokesman added that the detainees included an Afghan national and four woman smugglers. The force also impounded 7 vehicles from possession of the smugglers, he said.

The ANF conducted 25 raids against drug peddlers and smugglers in various parts of the country and apprehended 28 smugglers, the spokesman said, adding that the ANF seized drugs including 760 kilograms of opium, 134 kilograms of hashish, 12 kilograms of heroin, 3.2 kilograms of amphetamine and 1.3 kilograms of methamphetamine. Value of the seized drug is Rs1.6 million in the international market, he said.

The spokesman added that ANF Rawalpindi while acting upon a tip-off intercepted a truck in Attock, recovering 75 kilograms of hashish and 25 kilograms of opium concealed in improvised cavities of the vehicle. A person on board identified as Asad, resident of Jhang, was apprehended during the operation. In another operation, the ANF Rawalpindi arrested Amjad Pervez, resident of Attock, and Saeed Gul, resident of Peshawar, from GT Road in Attock and recovered 2 kilograms of hashish from them.

The ANF Lahore recovered 280 grams of hashish by arresting two drug peddlers identified as Asim Masih and Sagar Masih, both residents of Lahore. In another operation, the ANF Lahore arrested Arshad Masih and Rafaqat Masih, both residents of Lahore, and recovered 250 grams of hashish from their possession. In yet another operation, the ANF Lahore arrested two drug peddlers including Ali and Ramzan, both residents of Lahore, along with 290 grams of hashish from their possession. In addition, the ANF Lahore also recovered 160 grams of hashish from possession of an accused Yasir Hafeez. In fifth operation, the ANF Lahore in a joint operation with Punjab Rangers carried out a raid in Qasur and arrested a drug peddler Muhammad Boota, recovering 10 kilograms of heroin.

Sharing further details, the spokesman said that the ANF Quetta in an intelligence-based operation carried out at district Chaghi seized 700 kilograms of opium. The drug was stocked at an isolated site. In another operation, the ANF intercepted a motorcyclist identified as Naeem, resident of Qilla Abdullah, and recovered 20 kilograms of hashish from his possession. In yet another operation, the ANF Quetta intercepted a bike in Kochi area of Chaghi district, however; the rider managed to escape, taking advantage of the darkness, leaving the motorcycle unattended. Search of the luggage loaded on the bike resulted in recovery of 35 kilograms of opium. Moreover, the ANF Quetta arrested a motorcyclist, Sher Dil, resident of Quetta, recovering 29.1 kilograms of hashish from his possession, the spokesman said.

The ANF Peshawar intercepted a car near in Hayatabad and recovered 2.4 kilograms of hashish from it. A drug carrier identified as Sajid, resident of Khyber Agency, was apprehended during the action. In another operation, the ANF Peshawar arrested a Riyadh-bound passenger identified as Gulzar, resident of Peshawar, at the Peshawar Airport and recovered 1.06 kilograms of amphetamine concealed in his handbag. He was to taken off the flight.

In yet another operation, the ANF Peshawar in collaboration with ASF at Peshawar Airport arrested four passenger identified as Asif Ali, Nargis, Noor Sahib Jan, residents of Kohat, and Bibi Zainab Jan, resident of Orakzai Agency, recovering 2.155 kilograms of amphetamine concealed in their trolley bags. They were boarding for Riyadh. The ANF Peshawar also seized 1.7 kilograms of heroin from a shipment being sent to UK through a private courier company based at Namak Mandi, Peshawar. Heroin was concealed in marbled decoration piece, flower vase and jewellery box separately.

In fifth operation, ANF Peshawar arrested an Afghan national Khan Agha from Peshawar University and recovered 200 grams of heroin from the accused. In three separate operations at Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar, the ANF Peshawar arrested Javaid, resident of Kohat, Saeed, resident of Khyber Agency and Shahid, resident of Peshawar and recovered 1.2 kilograms, 1 kilograms and 1.15 kilograms of hashish from their possession, respectively.

The ANF Karachi arrested a foreign-bound passenger, Fayyaz, resident of Charsadda at Jinnah International Airport and recovered 1.3 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in a jar. The accused intended to fly for Riyadh. Moreover, ANF Karachi intercepted a truck on Shikarpur-Jacobabad Highway and recovered 1 kilograms of hashish from possession of a person on board identified as Mithal Khan, resident of Khairpur, who was apprehended during the operation.
