Civil Services Academy trainees call on acting IGP

LAHORE - A 14-member delegation of 45th common training programme of Civil Services Academy called on acting IGP Amjad Javed Saleemi at Central Police Office Thursday.

SSP (Investigation, Waqas Nasir and PSO to IG Punjab Sajjad Hassan Khan Manj were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, the acting IGP said to improve law and order, the Punjab Police was utilising information technology efficiently.

He said that the process of modernising the police work is going on for complete transfer of system to IT Technology and after front desk, public service centres are being completed in all districts of Punjab so that public may get benefit of facilities of police character certificate, FIR copy, driving licence and registration of property renting under one roof. He said that highly educated youngsters are becoming the part of department through Public service commission in order to switch Thana culture while comprehensive strategic refresher courses have been launched to enhance efficiency of force.

Replying to queries by the participants, Waqas said the police have been upgraded by establishing Dolphins Force, Special Protection Unit, Anti Right Force and special operations unit. 

PHP registers 458 cases for traffic violations

Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) registered 458 cases for traffic violations during the current week. The PHP sources said that the teams seized eight motorcycles on using fake registration number-plates or green number-plates.  The PHP team arrested six gamblers and recovered stack money amounting to Rs 15,600 from them. The team also arrested 28 persons for installing prohibited gas cylinder in their vehicles.
