CM asks MPAs to give suggestions on development projects

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of parliamentary party of Pakistan Muslim League (N) at Chief Ministers Secretariat, which was also attended by Senior Advisor Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Minister for Law Rana Sana Ullah Khan, Provincial Ministers, Advisors and Assembly Members of Unification Group, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal and Muslim League Functional. During the meeting, which lasted for more than three hours, Assembly Members expressed their opinion regarding the Local Government Act, education, health, law and order and other development projects. The CM said service to the people was his mission and all resources were being utilised for its accomplishment. He said maintenance of law and order was top priority of the government and for this purpose, not only police was being trained on modern lines, but a system had also been evolved for change in Thana culture and effective accountability in the police department. The govt has made revolutionary measures for the improvement of education and health sectors. Besides setting up of the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund for first time in the history of the province, project of establishment of the Information Technology labs in 4286 schools, has also been completed in a transparent manner in a record period of time and foundation of revolution has been laid in education sector, he said, while adding that on the directions of Quaid PML-N Nawaz Sharif, all possible measures were being taken for the welfare of deprived segment of the society and besides free facility of dialysis, provision of free medicines had also been ensured in the hospitals. He further said the new system of local government was being made vibrant, active and transparent and accountability and transparency would be made an integral part of the law. It will also be ensured in the new system that the resources should be spent only on the welfare of the people and not go in the pocket of contractors and commission mafia, he said, while appreciating the MPAs for giving valuable suggestions in Thursdays meeting and he expressed his desire that opinion of all the members should be sought and for this purpose, the next meeting of parliamentary party would be convened on Monday (February 1) in which all the assembly members would give their proposals regarding development projects, local bodies system and other matters. He said in the next meeting, a strategy would be evolved for the improvement of law and order, education, health and other sectors in the light of proposals of assembly members. He said assembly members had been elected by the votes of the people and while giving importance to their suggestions for solving peoples problems, effective steps are being taken. He said the elected representatives should ensure implementation of the programmes aimed at public welfare started by the govt in their respective areas. During the meeting, Dua was also offered for rains, ridding of foreign aid and progress and prosperity of the country. The meeting also prayed for the departed souls of deceased assembly members.
