RAWALPINDI Anti Narcotics Force (ANF), Rawalpindi foiled two attempts to smuggle narcotics from NWFP to Punjab and arrested two smugglers including a lady here on Thursday. According to details, the ANF Regional Directorate, Rawalpindi received information that drug smugglers would try to smuggle narcotics from NWFP to Punjab. On the tip-off, the ANF officials conducted a raid at Burhan bus stop on GT Road and intercepted a Toyota Hiace, LES-7628. The officials searched the vehicle and recovered two kilogram Charas Garda from the personal possession of a lady, Shumaila, a resident of Mardan. On this, they arrested the lady on the spot and registered a case against her under the Narcotics Act. In another operation, the ANFs Police Station (PS), Attock conducted another raid on the same bus stop and intercepted a Toyota Corolla car, MV-368 (Islamabad). After searching the vehicle, the staffers recovered two kilogram Charas Garda from personal possession of Muhammad Yousaf Afridi. They arrested the accused on the spot and started further investigations in this regard. Meanwhile, Regional Directorate ANF, Rawalpindi also organized a one day workshop Drug and Crime Control in a local hotel. Force Commander ANF Brigadier, Shafqat Hayat Khan headed the workshop. All law and enforcement agencies participated in the workshop. The participants discussed the agenda in details and they especially talked about sharing and inter-agencies coordination, joint ventures with conduct modalities and apprehension of proclaimed offenders. They also decided that in future all information regarding drug smugglers would be shared immediately through any vital communication equipment to curb the drug smuggling in the region.
