LAHORE - As the death toll continues to rise with every passing day, the Punjab government has decided to request Lahore High Court for judicial inquiry to find out cause of deaths occurring due to use of medicines provided at Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) and fix responsibility on the persons responsible for this tragedy.
Punjab Chief Minister has directed all administrative departments to assist Lahore High Court in this regard. He has further directed that the proposed judicial commission should be informed of the outcome of the inquiries conducted separately by chief minister’s inspection team and Maj (r) Mubashir.
Meanwhile, Secretary Health Punjab Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan and Head of Punjab Institute Dr Muhammad Azhar have been made OSDs for their negligence. Orders have also been issued for the suspension of Medical Superintendent Punjab Institute of Cardiology Lahore, Deputy Medical Superintendent (Store), Director Drug Testing Laboratory, Pharmacist and the Storekeeper.
The government has assured that action would be taken against the persons responsible according the findings of the judicial inquiry of Lahore High Court.
