PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Information and Culture, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that the provincial government has initiated a special project for theatre plays on lives of their heroes and great personalities of the land.
He said it was aimed at informing the new generation of their life and deeds. After a successful display of theatre play on great Sufi poet Abdur Rahman Baba and befitting response of the different thoughts of people on it, the government in the second phase will prepare theatre plays on Khushal Khan Khattak, Pir Rokhan and Bacha Khan under a special project, he added.
This he stated while chairing a meeting regarding theatre plays project in Peshawar on Saturday.
The meeting besides others, was also attended by the Secretary Culture Azmat Hanif Aurakzai, Director Culture Pervez Sabatkhel, renowned writers and poets Raj Wali Khan Khattak, Yunas Qiasi, Salma Shaheen, Yar Muhammad Maghmoom, Pervez Mahjoor, Abaseen Yousafzai, Masood Shah and President Khushal Adbi Jirga Jehangir Khan.
The meeting decided to form a panel comprising the above-mentioned personalities including Muhammad Azam Azam and Noor-ul-Bashr to finalise the theatre plays project within 10 days. It was further decided that the death anniversary of Khushal Khan Khattak would be observed on 20th February of each year regularly and his 323rd death anniversary would be observed on 20th February with fervor and zeal at Akora Khattak.
The minister said if they acted upon the philosophy and thoughts of their great heroes, they would have not faced the present critical situation. But under a preplanned conspiracy, they have been kept in the dark from the life and teachings of their heroes, he added. He reiterated the pledge that they would face the situation with courage by following the thoughts of their forefathers and heroes and offer every sacrifice for the integrity and solidarity of this land.
Mian Iftikahar continued that the life and messages of Khushal Khan Khattak, Pir Rokahn and Bacha Khan were for all and based on humanity. He said the purpose of theatre plays was to promote the messages of their great heroes for bright future of the next generation. “We should be very careful while presenting the lives of great people before the new generation, as in case of any negligence in this regard, the new generation would never pardoned us,” he concluded.
